At Willand Engineering Company Ltd, we were called in to support a steam system upgrade at a busy cheese manufacturing facility in the Midlands. The client needed a reliable and energy-efficient steam delivery system to support their production lines—without disrupting daily operations. This project involved the installation of a new steam PRV and separator, as well as full valve assemblies and steam trap sets for each feed line coming from the boiler house. With a tight shutdown window and legacy systems to navigate, our team ensured the work was completed smoothly, safely, and on time.
Project Overview
The job called for the design, prefabrication, and installation of new steam pipework to serve multiple process lines. Each line required its own pressure-reducing valve arrangement and associated control components to ensure effective steam management and compliance with on-site requirements.
Scope of Work
Prefabrication: All pipework was prefabricated at our West Yorkshire facility. This off-site approach ensured clean welds, precise fabrication, and significantly reduced on-site installation time.
Component Installation: Each steam feed line was fitted with its own block and bleed valve assembly, steam trap set, and connected to a new PRV and steam separator. The system was built to reduce condensate build-up and maintain consistent pressure control.
Site Works & Integration: Once delivered, the new assemblies were installed within the client’s strict outage schedule. Careful planning ensured the pipework tied seamlessly into the facility’s existing steam infrastructure.
