Project Overview
Willand Engineering was contracted to fabricate the main body construction of sugar mixers / cutters. This work was carried out in collaboration with a leading UK confectionery equipment supplier that provides machinery to blue-chip companies. Once fabricated, the units were shipped for passivation and bead blasting before being delivered to our partner for full assembly.
Scope of Works
Fabrication of the main body construction in stainless steel.
Delivery of units to specialist subcontractors for bead blasting and passivation.
Coordination with finishing and assembly partners to maintain project schedule.
Final delivery of treated components ready for mechanical and electrical assembly.
Challenges
Precision fabrication requirements: Tight tolerances were needed to ensure compatibility with downstream components.
Food-industry hygiene standards: Surfaces had to meet strict cleanliness and corrosion resistance specifications.
Multi-stage project coordination: Managing logistics between fabrication, finishing, and assembly partners.
Outcome
The project was delivered on schedule, with the fabricated bodies meeting the required tolerances and hygienic standards. The surface treatment process ensured durability and compliance for food-industry use. By managing logistics and partner collaboration, we enabled the confectionery supplier to proceed smoothly with final assembly and deliver high-quality equipment to their blue-chip customers.
